Visa procedure
International students who have been admitted to a Polish university and require a visa to enter Poland should apply for a National Visa (Type D) for study purposes. Applications must be submitted at the nearest Polish Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s country of residence.
The required documents typically include a valid passport, a completed visa application form, a recent photograph, proof of admission to a Polish higher education institution, evidence of sufficient financial resources, valid health insurance, and other documents required by the relevant consular office. For degree programmes lasting longer than 90 days, a National Visa (Type D) is required.

Legalisation of Stay in Poland
International students from non-EU countries who intend to study in Poland are required to obtain a valid visa or residence permit. Before travelling to Poland, students should apply for a National Visa (Type D) at the nearest Polish Embassy or Consulate. After arrival, students planning to stay in Poland for longer than three months are advised to apply for a Temporary Residence Permit at the appropriate Voivodeship Office. The application should be submitted before the expiration of the visa or current residence document.

International students can also receive guidance from the University’s administrative staff regarding the required documentation and relevant authorities responsible for residence matters.

Health Insurance
All international students are required to have valid health insurance covering the entire period of their stay in Poland. Students from European Union and EFTA countries may use the European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), while students from non-EU countries are required to obtain private health insurance or register for voluntary health insurance with the Polish National Health Fund (NFZ) upon arrival.Having valid health insurance is essential not only for access to medical services but also for residence permit applications and other administrative procedures. Students are encouraged to arrange their insurance before arrival in Poland and ensure that their coverage remains valid throughout their studies.
Accommodation in University Dormitories
Politechnika Opolska offers accommodation in modern student dormitories located close to the University campus and academic facilities. Dormitories provide a convenient and affordable housing option for international students, allowing them to live in a multicultural environment and actively participate in student life.
Accommodation is allocated upon application and subject to availability. Students are encouraged to apply for a dormitory place as early as possible after receiving their admission decision. Detailed information regarding accommodation fees, room types, application procedures, and residence regulations is available on the University’s website. The University staff assists international students throughout the accommodation process and provides support in resolving practical issues related to living in the dormitories.
